Development of Critical Thinking Skill by Using the Jãtaka Stories on the Subject of Buddhism for the 4th Primary School Students of Wat Dokmai School, Yannawa District Bangkok

Abstract

The purpose of this was experimental research. The main objectives were: 1. to development of critical thinking skill by using the Jãtaka stories on the subject of Buddhism for the 4th primary school students of Wat Dokmai School, Yannawa District Bangkok.  2)  To comparison   the achievement critical thinking skill by using the Jãtaka stories on the subject of Buddhism for the 4th primary school students of Wat Dokmai School, Yannawa District Bangkok.  The sample size for this research corrected as namely the 4th primary school students was room 4/1 number 30 persons by purposive sampling.  Tools for research were critical thinking from Jãtaka as numbers were 4 sets from lesson plan number 3 as item the Dhamma principle of Buddhist as number 5 lesson plans and critical thinking test from Jãtaka pre and post learning number 20 items.

Result had found that:

  1) The result studies development of critical thinking skill by using the Jãtaka stories on the subject of Buddhism for the 4th primary school students of Wat Dokmai School, Yannawa District Bangkok was effected. It had substance not too sort and long. It was used good words and then could be understood with process system reading aspiration. It could be tale summarize explain and concern with all situation.

  2) The comparison of critical thinking from Jãtaka as numbers were 4 sets from lesson plan number 3 as item the Dhamma principle of Buddhist before learning had significant average when compare with critical thinking achievement after learning have got the achievement for posttest higher than pretest by statistical significance as .05.

  The research analyze result had found that, learners have attention to learn with more substance.  They could be classifying good substance and have got achievement for posttest higher than pretest. Therefore, learning management by using lesson plan critical thinking from Jãtaka then could be developing students’ skills with critical thinking indeed.
