Abstract

 This dissertation entitled ‘A Thought Path Model of Bodhisatta in Theravada Buddhism’ has three objectives: 1) to study the relationship of mind and mental products, 2) to study thinking process of the Bodhisatta, and 3) to build the Though Path model of Bodhisatta in Theravada Buddhism. This is a documentary research done by studying data in Tipiaka, Commentary and related academic works in Buddhism and science concerning mind.

The research found that scientific thought is the short time-activity of the concrete body by the brain and nervous system. The ​​Buddhist thought is shown at the short term running as the process of mind path, by the ear, nose, tongue, body and the mind which arising and dissolution is continuous. The thought can be expressed in behavior through the mechanism of material quality as bodily intimation or verbal intimation and the long term running by the thought is caused and affected to Kamma clue, creating the round of rebirth in transmigration through the mechanism of formation following the Dependent Origination, the Though-Path is responsible for significant changing the path of mental possibility in the long run.
