Abstract

Abstract

             The objectives of this research were: 1. to study the effectiveness of human resource management of monasteries at Banbueng District, Cholburi Province, 
2. to study the comparison of monks’ opinions towards the effectiveness of human resource management of monasteries at Banbueng District, Cholburi Province and 
3. to study problems, obstacles and recommendation for the effectiveness of human resource management of Banbueng  District, Pichit Province.

             Methodology was the mixed methods; The quantitative research collected data by survey method  from 210 samples out of 440 monks at Banbueng District, Chonburi Province  with questionnaires, analyzed data with  statistics: frequency, percentile, mean and SD, standard deviation, t-test and F-test and one way ANOVA.  The qualitative research collected data from 10 key informants, interviewing with structured  in-depth-interviewing scripts and analyzed data by descriptive interpretation.   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Findings were as follows:

1. The roles of administrative monks in people charity at Wang Sai Phon District, Pichit Province by overall were at high level (  = 4.12)  and classified by each aspect; giving, sweet words, beneficially  and proper behavior were also at high levels consecutively.

2. Monks’ opinions towards the roles of administrative monks in people charity at Wang Sai Phon Districtm Pichit Province by F-test finding that administrative monks with different age, Dhamma and Pali educational levels, had different roles in people charity, accepting set hypothesis. Administrative monks with formal educational levels did not have different roles in people charity at Wang Sai Phon District, Pichit province, denying the set hypothesis.

3. Problems, obstacles and effectiveness of human resource management
of administrative monks at Banbueng District, Chonburi Province were that: 1) those to be ordained never spent lives in monasteries before ordination, never been trained in the rules and regulations of monkhood, 2) lack of budget to support monks and novices for higher education, 3) administrative monks did not have parts od administration in monasteries, 4) administrative monks did not have responsibility in monasteries, did not ranks and  honorarium in monasteries.

Recommendation: 1) preceptors should let those who are going to be ordained spend sometimes in monasteries at least 7-15 days to learn rules, regulations and ways of life of monkhood before ordination, 2) administrative monks should allocate budget to support Dhamma and formal education for monks and novices,
3) administrative monks should  administer monasteries with participation for harmony in monasteries, 4) administrative monks should assign duties and appoint Sangha ranks and honorarium for monks in monasteries.
