Abstract

The thematic paper, “Development of Meditation Practice of Weruwan Meditation  Center, Muang District,  Khon  Kaen  Province” had main purposes: (1) to study a concept and a history of the Weruwan Meditation Center, Khon Kaen province and (2) to study the development of the Weruwan Meditation Center, Khon Kaen province. This was a qualitative research to collect all data from books, texts, Buddhist academic paper and related researches with the descriptive analysis.

A result of this study was found that the Weruwan Meditation Center, Khon Kaen province was established according to the intention and determination of  Phradhammasinghapuracariya (Charan Thitadhammo), the abbot of the Ampawan temple and the ecclesiastical provincial governor in Singburi province.  Here, the management was in hte form of foundation. A way of Dhamma practice followed the major principles: (1) Ātāpi—effort, (2) Satimā—continuous consciousness, (3) Sampacāno—consciousness of action for all times.

Because it contained a characteristic of systematic work, it was developed quickly. A way of teaching was in demonstration. This aspect made the meditators understand all steps and ways of practice, and follow them strictly. As a result, they accepted and understood clearly Buddhist meditation and natural law, the world and life, truth of life, more loving kindness towards the worldly beings, more consciousness before making a decision and reasonable resolution of problems, peaceful mind, wisdom, reasonable thought, good personality, and self-modification for all changing states of the world and life.
