Abstract

ABSTRACT

          This  thesis  is of  3  objectives namely  :-  1)  to  study   the history of the building of the Buddha statuses in Buddhism.  2)  to  study the Buddha statuses of 80 Postures in Ratanakosin’ period in Thailand. 3) to study the history of the Buddha statuses in the Postures of the 80 Buddha from the history of the Buddha in Wat Krathum Suea Pla Museum.                                     

           From  the research,  it is found that :- The Buddha Pañimā  is the Buddha Image built  from tradition of Thai Culture groups continuously.  Buddha Pañimā of Māra Vijaya Postures or  Māra Struggles Postures are admirable to be built at every period and there are the biggest Buddha Images in the temples.    Because of the importance in the biography of Lord Buddha, when Lord Māra interrupted  the enlightenment of Bodhisatta.  He  pointed out his hand to give the witness of Dharanã that  in the part lives that His Majesty collected Pāramãs enough for enlightening Buddha hood immediately. Then Dharanã squeezed her bun and poured the water that Lord Buddha kept the merit which cause the water flow over Lord Māra and his soldiers until they sink in the water and disappear.

           The 80 Buddha Images which are of the Buddha Postures in Thailand are movement of the Buddha’s  body which have shown the believes, the Dhammas principles and Lord Buddha’s special characteristics (Mahàpurissalakkhaõas of Lord Buddha)  for warning  the Buddhist’ minds to use Buddha Dhammas in carrying out their lives and to practice  the principles Buddha Dhammas appearing in Buddha Images.

           The Buddha Images of 80 Postures at Wat Krathum Suea Pla Museum was built from the Buddha’s biography.   The Museum of 80 Buddha Images is Buddhist learning place for learning  Buddhism, to creating and maintaining the customs and  for mind restraint of  person in the community.  It causes the audiences to understands in correctly and Buddhism profoundly and for telling the Thai legend up to the present time.  So, all of us should preserve  the    80 Buddha Images in Wat Krathum Suea Pla  Museum for a long time.
