Abstract

                 The thesis consists of 3 objectives as 1) to study the Dhamma individualized instruction and the achievement of Dhamma individualized instruction in Buddhism and 2) to study the achievement and attitude of Mattayomsuksa 3 students in Kawila Wittayalai School, Chiang Mai Province who were taught by the Dhamma individualized instruction (CAI) in Buddhism course (Sor. 23103) on The Important Principle of Buddhism and 3) to compare the achievement of students learning with the Dhamma individualized instruction (CAI) and the students who were not taught by the Dhamma individualized in the same lesson.

                 The samples used in this study are divided into two groups: 1) students in the experimental group were 30 students in Mathayomsuksa 3, classroom no. 4, who studied in the academic year 2556. The samples were selected by the simple random sampling and used the classroom as a randomization. 2) Students in the controlled group were 30 students in Mathayomsuksa 3, classroom no. 3.  The samples derived from the simple random by the lottery and use the classroom as the unit of a randomization.    Tools used in this study consisted of the experimental group lesson plans, the Dhamma Individualized Instruction (CAI), pretest and posttest and the attitude posttest.  The tools used in the research of a control group consisting of the lesson plans, pretest and posttest and the attitude posttest.

 

                 The result revealed as follows:

                 1. The Dhamma individualized instruction in Buddhism can be found 4 kinds viz., Individual media, Media techniques, Print Media and Audiovisual media. The Buddha taught persons by the appropriateness of individual, situation, place and time. In addition, the achievement of the Dhamma individualized instruction in Buddhism; it was found that the persons who were directly taught by the Buddha, the achievements will depend upon their intrinsic nature or abilities. The first step of the achievement is the understanding the Buddha’s Teachings and turn to believe in the Buddha and finally attain to Enlightenment.

                 2. The achievement and attitude of Mattayomsuksa 3’s students in Kawila Wittayalai School, Chiang Mai Province who were taught by the Dhamma individualized instruction (CAI) in Buddhism course, it was found as follows:

                     1)  the achievement of the learning progress of students in the experimental group, it was found that the students has progressively of learning 36.25 percent or 100 percent higher than the academic progress as defined at 25 percent or more.

                     2) The achievement based on the academic standard was found that students have achieved the score 60 percent which was considered in the good level and higher than the academic standard in which 60 percent of student have score 60 percent or more.   

                     3) The test (t-test) achievement showed that students in the experimental group have increased their learning achievement statistically significant at .001.

                     4)  the achievement of student’s attitude, it was found that they have good attitude towards the Dhamma individualized instruction (CAI) at the highest level. (= 4.75)

                 3. Results comparing the achievement of students who were taught by the Dhamma individualized instruction (CAI) and who were not, it was found as follows:

                     1) the achievement on the advancement of learning, it was found that 1.34 percent of experimental group of students got a higher in learning. It showed that the Dhamma individualized instruction (CAI) can benefit the progress of learning.     

                     2) The results of comparing the achievement by the academic standard, it was found that the experimental groups of students have score more the control group 49.96 percent. It showed that the Dhamma individualized instruction (CAI) can assist the experimental groups of students.

                     3) The results of comparing the T- test was found that the students who were taught by the Dhamma individualized instruction (CAI) and who were taught by the traditional teaching methods, the achievement was statistically significant different at .001.
