This research entitled “A Survey Study of the Living Style of the Secondary School Pupils as the Channels of Growth; Gateway to Progress ” is the Quasi-Experimental Research focusing on studying and surveying the living style based on the Channels of Growth of the secondary school pupils of the area in Kaeng Khro district, Chaiyabhum province, who joined the Buddhist rite and did not join the Buddhist activity and for the comparative study concerning the behavior of the living style based on the Channels of Growth of the secondary school pupils in the area of Kaeng Khro district, Chaiyabhum province, who joined and did not join the Buddhist activity for 400 persons. The comparative study focused on the group of 200 persons who had joined the Buddhist rite and 200 persons who did not join the rite. The comparison had been used before and after the test by using the statistic of t-test.
The result of research for the pupils of the secondary school and high school of Kaeng Kro district, Chaiyabhum province was found that the group of pupils who joined the Buddhist rite are mostly male, aged lower than 14 years old, studying at the secondary school level and their educational achievement is higher than 2.95 of grade point average. Also, the occupation of their parents is agriculturalist or the income of their parents’ independent occupation is less than 8,088.73 baht per month.
Whereas the group of pupils who did not join the Buddhist rite are mostly female, aged higher than 14 years old, studying at the high school level with the grade point average of 2.95. The occupation of their parents is agriculturalist or the income of their parents’ independent occupation is less than 8,088.73 baht per month.
The result of living style based on the Channels of Growth for the group of pupils who joined the Buddhist rite was found that, for the overview, it is at the “ high” level and the income is at the “high” level. Whereas the group of pupils who did not join the Buddhist rite was found that, for the overview, it is at the “moderate” level. With regard to free disease; good health and mental health, for the overview, it is at the “moderate” level. With regard to Morality; well-behavior, good discipline, no revenge and well-trained practice, it is at the “moderate” level. Regarding the study of having access to the ways of great or enlightened beings, it is at the “high” level. As for the practice of living style in accord with Dhamma; following the law of righteousness, it is at the “high” level. And it is at the “high” level on much learning; new knowledge acquisition, self-training in order to be skilled and to keep pace with the current situation. With respect to the unshrinking perseverance; discouraged and constant effort, being strong, being impatient, and being consistent, it is at the “moderate” level. With regard to free disease; good health and physical health, for the overview, it is at the “low” level.
From the variables in finding the differences between the group of pupils who joined the Buddhist rite and the group who did not join the Buddhist rite toward the living style based on the Channels of Growth obtaining from the variables based on 6 aspects when using t-test. In respect of the differences between 2 groups, it was found that it is significantly different in statistics at 0.05 level which means that the result of joining the Buddhist rite gives rise to the living style based on the Channels of Growth of the secondary school pupils.
