Abstract

Research Title:    A Study of the Atmosphere and Contents of Learning and Teaching  of Phrapariyattidhamma School of Dhamma Curriculum in the Eleventh Regional Sangha’s administration

Researchers:    Mr. Thanoo  Srithong,  Asst. Prof. Thaveesak  Thongthipya, Asst. Prof. Banchong  Sodadee  and Mr. Pholnapas  Sangsri

                                                    ABSTRACT

 

               The objectives of this research are to study the atmospheres of learning and teaching, to study the contents of learning and teaching, the satisfaction of the students in learning and teaching of Phrapariyattidhamma School of Dhamma Curriculum. The populations used are the concerned documents, the Phrapariyattidhamma Schools of Dhamma Curriculum in the Eleventh Regional Sangha’s Administration, the Sangha administrators in the Eleventh Regional Sangha’s Administration, and the teachers of Phrapariyattidhamma Schools of Dhamma in the Eleventh Regional Sangha’s Administration, The instruments used in data collecting are 1) notation card for 2) interviewing form 3) observing form and 4) questionnaires. Descriptive analysis is used for data analysis. The results of studies are as follows:

              1. The atmospheres of learning and teaching are of five aspects as follows; 1) The schools have enough buildings and places for running the Dhamma curriculum. 2) The schools have got good natural and social atmospheres for education. 3) The teachers are qualified, knowledgeable in the subject and teaching, very kind to students, always respectable, ready to help students, patient listener, and devoted for teaching. 4) Activities of learning and teaching are accordance with the objectives of studies. The teaching activity is provided continuously through out the rains retreat. The teachers emphasize on memorizing and exercising the lessons. The students are always participant in learning activities. There is an intense training before examination.

5) There are black and white board in the classroom. Tape recorder is used more than the other audio and visual teaching aids. 

              2. The contents of learning and teaching are of five aspects as follows; 1) be in accordance with the Buddhist teachings 2) be in accordance with the objectives of the national education 3) be in accordance with the objectives of producing the Sangha personnel 4) the overlap of the text books in each level of studies 5) the occasionally  curriculum development

              3. The whole range of satisfaction of the students to learning and teaching is higher level according to the numeral statistics reckoning from most to the less numbers respectively as follows; 1) the activities of learning and teaching 2) the atmosphere and surrounding 3) the contents used in learning and teaching 4) teaching aids and technology 5) teachers and 6) building and place.

              The suggestions to those concerned are as follows; the government should make a policy and a plan to promote Phrapariyattidhamma Schools of Dhamma Curriculum through the National Buddhist Offices; the Sangha Order should also make a policy and a plan to direct, control, inspect, and develop Phrapariyattidhamma Schools of Dhamma Curriculum; Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya Uninversity should play an important role in providing the reliable data about Phrapariyattidhamma Schools of Dhamma Curriculum to the government and to the Sangha Order; the Phrapariyattidhamma Schools should make an action plan to develop the educational management in every aspect.
